THE TARTAN RIBBON PROJECT
We are a not for profit, social enterprise working in the Oxgangs area of Edinburgh. Our main business is two fold.
1) We design, manufacture and sell protective clothing items to the general public through our website shop, craft fairs, and to care homes and other specialist care organisations.
2) We run a comprehensive community education service, called TARTAN RIBBON RE-CREATIONS, teaching subjects such as sewing crafts, photography, environmental awareness and upcycling. The subjects are chosen by the local people, in keeping with our “Community led” ethos.
We spent the first 3 years of our time together, based part time in the Oxgangs Neighbourhood Centre, where we ran a series of craft classes and a successful photography group. In March 2018 we were very fortunate to be awarded a substantial grant from the COMMUNITY FUND, part of the Big Lottery, to help further develop TARTAN RIBBON RE-CREATIONS. This funding has also enabled us to secure our own base in Firrhill Neuk, and the opportunity to expand our service significantly.
OUR VOLUNTEERS
We are extremely fortunate to have a small dedicated team of skilled volunteers, without whom our project could not function.
COMMUNITY LEARNING AND HAVING FUN
Tartan Ribbon Re-Creations is our Community Learning project, for which we receive grant funding from the COMMUNITY FUND, part of THE BIG LOTTERY.
Our new base has allowed us to expand on the classes and services on offer.
